At Assurance, our ‘A’ Team is all about being not only dominate, but also competitive. It’s in our DNA! More importantly, we believe competitiveness belongs in every wellness program. Healthy competition and incentives can motivate and encourage employees to meet their wellness goals.
The easiest way to foster competition is to render a wellness challenge. What do I mean by “wellness challenge?” One of the best successes we’ve had – and one that we often encourage our clients to do – is host your company’s very own 5k. Other than a race, there are weight loss challenges or gym attendance competitions that are simple to integrate. We’ll dive into the details of those challenges on the blog in a few weeks – so stay tuned!
In addition, you may surprised by how many communities and not for profit organizations host similar challenges that your employees can take part in. Specifically, for those in the Chicago area, we’re huge fans of the Daily Herald’s Fittest Loser Workplace Challenge. The program is free for company-run teams of five employees who want to become healthier by losing weight. The 12-week competition runs February through May and is jam packed with activities, programs and communication to help motivate participants and encourage small victories and major milestones. Not to mention, there are some pretty cool prizes at stake for the winning team.
As a company who prides themselves on minimizing risk and maximizing health for organizations, we feel it’s only natural to sponsor the competition. 2016 will mark our third year as a sponsor, and we couldn’t be more appreciative for this opportunity to help support the journey to health and wellness for participants.
For those of you in the Chicagoland looking for some serious B2B competition, register your Fittest Loser team here. Not in this area? No worries! As mentioned, we’ll have plenty of tips for hosting your own challenge on the blog this spring!
