Schaumburg, IL (October 21, 2013) - Assurance, an independent insurance brokerage with offices near Chicago and St. Louis, has been named #1 on the list of "Best Places to Work” by Business Insurance magazine. This is the fifth consecutive year Assurance was ranked, including another #1 honor in 2012 in the small-sized category. For the first time, in 2013, Assurance jumped to the mid-sized category and retained the top spot.
This award is the result of the unique culture at Assurance, which recognizes its employees as rock stars. The internal culture is centered on happiness, education, wellness and social responsibility. It's through these corporate values that Assurance attracts, develops and retains exceptional individuals, who in turn, deliver superior performance and solutions for clients. As a thank you, employees are treated to an outstanding benefits package, a number of perks, happy hours and a yearly appreciation celebration hosted at popular hangouts including Wrigley Field, North Avenue Beach, Joe's on Weed and Second City.
"Retaining the top spot two years in a row is a special honor we attribute to our hard-working employees,” said Tony Chimino, chief executive officer of Assurance. "It's through their collective ideas, we're able to propel Assurance forward, while offering employees a chance to get involved in their community, take a fitness class on-site and enjoy a cup of free Starbucks every day.”
During the last five years, Assurance has received more than 60 awards for client service and being a best place to work. In addition to the recent accolades, the independent insurance brokerage has also experienced an average organic growth rate of 14 percent over the last 10 years. More than 90 percent of Assurance's staff say that not only is Assurance a fun place to work, but managers have a clear vision of the organization's future.
The list and rankings were published in the Oct. 21 issue of Business Insurance magazine. Steven Handmaker, Assurance's chief marketing officer, accepted the award at a luncheon for honorees held Oct. 15 in Chicago and hosted by the publication.
