Schaumburg, IL (June 13, 2013) - Assurance, an independent insurance brokerage with offices in Chicago and St. Louis, continued its commitment to giving on May 30, 2013, when several employees spent their day volunteering at Little Angels in Elgin, Illinois. This is the third year in a row Assurance volunteers have assisted Little Angels.

Little Angels is a nonprofit organization that provides a loving home for nearly 60 children and young adults with severe medical needs and disabilities. For over 50 years, they have provided their clients with round-the-clock nursing, therapeutic and habilitation services.

Assurance's Little Angels volunteer day is one of 15 similar days scheduled for 2013 where Assurance employees will donate their time to deserving nonprofit organizations. All volunteer days are organized by the company's employee-driven charitable foundation, Assurance Caring Together (ACT).

At Little Angels, Assurance volunteers were put to work logging over 300 individual donations collected during the recent 25th Annual Little Angels Pledge Run, one of the Midwest's largest and longest running single-day motorcycle pledge events. The event raised $109,000 and has helped fund countless improvements over the years including the Cathy Freeman Center for Developmental Training, a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility for young adults with disabilities. Assurance employees also had the opportunity to interact with the residents in this facility playing Pictionary and participating in story time.

"You could see the staff's dedication and commitment shine through in everything they did; I was truly touched to be a part of this ACT event because Little Angels does such amazing things for the residents and their families,” said Stephanie Paulauskis, Manager of External Communications at Assurance. She continued, "It was great to see how just one day of volunteering can really make a difference for a local nonprofit.”

Under the motto "We Can Be Heroes,” Assurance employees have donated over 12,600 labor hours in an eight year span through volunteer opportunities organized by ACT. If you or your business would like to volunteer at Little Angels, please visit www.littleangels.org.
