Who: Assurance employees volunteered at Busse Woods for the fifth year in a row. Ned Brown Forest Preserve, popularly known as Busse Woods, is a 3,700 acre unit of the Cook County Forest Preserve system in Schaumburg and Elk Grove, Illinois.
What: Assurance volunteers spent the day clearing a path from the road to the pond in Grove 16.
Assurance has proudly helped to preserve Busse Woods through the years:
- Assurance began volunteering with Busse Woods in 2012.
- Over 50 Assurance employees contributed time to the nature preserve in 2013.
- Employees cleared 30 invasive shrubs in 2014.
- Last year, in 2015, Assurance volunteers continued to clear pathways and cut down invasive species to allow the natural habitat at Busse Woods to remain unthreatened.

Why: The volunteer opportunity is one of 22 similar events scheduled for 2016 where Assurance employees donate their time to deserving nonprofit organizations. All volunteer days are organized by the company’s employee-driven charitable foundation, Assurance Caring Together (ACT).
