Centro Achieves Companywide Biometric Score of 89 Out of 100; 17 Percent Above Industry Benchmark

Schaumburg, Ill. (May 8, 2017) – Assurance is thrilled to recognize Centro as a Minimizing Risk, Maximizing Health (MRMH) Award recipient. Centro is a rapidly growing digital advertising software firm based in Chicago.

The MRMH Award is open to all Assurance clients that work alongside the Top 50 U.S. insurance brokerage to achieve quantifiable results in minimizing workplace risk and maximizing the health and wellbeing of employees. Clients must meet certain criteria to qualify, including a large quantifiable reduction or improvement in a variety of key areas.

Centro’s goal was to bring best-in-class benefits to their organization to attract talent in the highly competitive tech and media space, all while saving on long-term health insurance costs. Assurance and Centro collaborated to restructure their benefits plan from a traditional PPO to a Health Savings Account (HSA) with a substantial employer contribution. HSA plans save money for both employees and employers. The lower premiums prevent employees from paying for coverage they rarely use, as is often the case with HMOs and PPOs. With higher deductible limits and a focus on preventative care, employees also become more engaged consumers when it comes to the true cost of healthcare.

Next, the team focused on building out a comprehensive wellness program that would generate further savings under the HSA plan. The program started with free biometric screenings for all employees and evolved to include:

- Free, onsite 1:1 dietitian consultations

- In-office yoga and meditation classes

- Healthy snacks and fresh fruit available daily

- $500 annual fitness reimbursement program

Centro’s drive to bring new and healthy programs on-site has decreased their medical and pharmacy claims spend per employee per month (PEPM) to 35 percent below the demographically adjusted benchmark. This is in addition to an 84 percent participation rate in the yearly biometric screening. This is a 25 percent increase since 2010 and well-above industry standard. Centro’s focus on the physiological and psychological wellness of employees helped it secure four consecutive #1 Best Place to Work rankings in Chicago and other top 10 workplace rankings nationally. This collective effort around employee health helped tremendously with recruiting.
